Class 3 details coming soon

Welcome to Autumn term. I hope you have had an enjoyable and relaxing summer and are fully refreshed for the start of a new school year. It is undoubtedly going to be a busy term for the children as they enter into key stage two. We have a fun and exciting term ahead with lots of new learning and challenges ahead.

In Year 3, we will carry on learning maths, literacy and spellings just like Year 2, but we will also learn lots of new exciting things together. I have been busy planning a range of topics to engage the children in their learning.

We will begin Year 3 by continuing to refine our grammar and spelling expertise as well as improve our writing skills. We will continue with weekly focus spellings which will be sent home for them to practise at home. The children will have plenty of opportunities to write at length and to refine their writing. Handwriting practise will also be a key focus for this first term.

The focus in maths this term will be place value and number.  We will be ensuring that the children have a good grasp of these areas so that we are able to progressively build on their knowledge and understanding.  We will use manipulatives where necessary to help children to understand. I am keen that the children have a solid foundation in-order to build upon.  As ever, times tables will have an important role to play in ensuring your child feels confident in number.

If you have any questions or concerns then please do not hesitate to get in touch.

Many thanks for your continued support
