Welcome to Class 5 – The Dolphins!
Our Mission Statement:
In Class 5 we aspire to be role models who treat others the way we would wish to be treated. There are no limits to what we can achieve and we will always aim high to be the best that we can be. We are creative, imaginative, responsible, courageous and reflective. We hope to inspire others just as others have inspired us.
Written by Class 5.
In Class 5 we have a mixture of Year 5 and Year 6 children- all of which are challenged at the appropriate level. For many in the class this is their final year before leaving for secondary school, I therefore place huge importance on promoting independence and developing their personal organisation. In class, children are issued with their own set of equipment which they are expected to take care of and keep available to avoid any delays in our learning time. The newsletter will give details of this half term’s topic and learning objectives across the curriculum. Our aim is to provide a wide range of engaging opportunities for children to develop their skills and knowledge supported by our current topic.
Home learning is actively encouraged and we have a number of different resources which allow children to consolidate the learning from the week as well as freely choosing learning activities these include: MyMaths, TT Rockstars, Maths Shed and Spelling Shed. All children have been issued with log-in details for all of the sites. Regular reading is also essential for children to further extend their vocabulary and to experience a range of writing styles and genres. We are fortunate to have a library in Class 5 as well as the use of the newly stocked school library. I personally read a wide range of the latest children’s literature so will happily suggest appropriate books which will engage the children in reading. As with every year, I am looking forward to the year ahead and, should you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact myself.
