Welcome to class 4, home of The Jaguars !
Class 4’s mission statement
In class 4, we will endeavour to have 100% attendance and to be at school on time to begin our learning. Whilst in school, we will treat everybody with kindness and respect and listen to what others have to say. It is important that will are resilient learners by showing a growth mind-set at all times. Mistakes in our learning are valued and demonstrate how we can learn from them to challenge ourselves so that we acquire new skills and knowledge at every opportunity. All members of class 4 will take pride in our classroom and take care of our equipment.
In class 4 we have a mixture of year 4 and year 5 children all of which are challenged at the appropriate level. I actively encourage children as they enter year 4 and throughout year 5 to built on their independence and take responsibility for their personal organisation. In class, children are issued with their own set of equipment which they are expected to take care of and keep available to avoid any delays in our learning time.
The news letter will give details of this half terms topic and learning objectives across the curriculum. Our aim is to provide a wide range of engaging opportunities for children to develop their skills and knowledge supported by our current topic.
Home learning is actively encouraged namely with the practising of weekly spellings and with MyMaths linked to that weeks aspect of maths learning. Regular reading is also essential for children to further extend their vocabulary and to experience a range of writing styles and genres. We are fortunate to have a library in class 4 which I have personally put together over the years and continually add to. Children are encouraged to borrow the books and I will suggest books and authors to further widen their appreciation of books.
